Our Policies
Submissions are accepted on a rolling basis.
Because of rolling submissions, the response time will be between 1–3 months, depending on when various submissions were received.
Please note that Soaring Voices Journal publishes its issues on a rolling basis as well. We aim to publish 5–10 times a year, though this range may fluctuate in accordance with the number of submissions.
We ask that your submission be related to topics within birding, ornithology, zoology, biology, naturalism, or experiences in nature.
We love submissions that intertwine ideas for social justice/change with science and/or nature.
We do not accept previously published works.
If your piece is a simultaneous submission, we ask that you specify this in the submission form and inform us immediately if your piece is accepted elsewhere.
Please title your submission this way:
First name last name - GENRE (Ex: Jane Park - POETRY)
With each submission, Soaring Voices Journal requires an author bio. Please take a look at this link if you're unsure what a bio is or how to begin writing one.
Soaring Voices Journal requests First Electronic Rights, though all rights of the piece revert back to the author/creator upon publication. If that same piece is accepted by another publication, please credit Soaring Voices Journal as the original publisher.
If your piece—predominantly research-based or nonfiction writings—includes learned information from outside sources, please cite using endnotes in Chicago Manual of Style.
No work that has been touched by Artificial Intelligence will be considered for publication.
We reserve the right to reject any work that promotes hate speech or discriminatory language/implications of any kind.
We reserve the right to alter these guidelines as necessary.
